We celebrated Tessa’s birthday a little early on Friday because her  birthday is Tuesday, February 4, while we are on winter break. She treated us to her very delicious blueberry muffins. Yum!! We hope you have a great birthday over break Tessa!

Zane was our Friday friend this past week. We learned that he likes candy, the color dark purple, Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, sharks, his laptop, and visiting Disney and Universal Studios. We enjoyed getting to know Zane better this week.

Bethany was our Friday friend this week. We learned she likes mashed potatoes, the color purple, visiting New York, her tablet, dogs, and reading Babysitter Club books. We enjoyed getting to know Bethany better this week. 

Addison was our Friday friend this week. We learned that she likes mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, the colors light pink and turquoise, visiting Florida, dogs and bunnies, and the movie Aladdin and Frozen 2. We enjoyed getting to know Addison better this week.

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a great Christmas break and a great start to the new year. Our first week back was full of getting back into the routine and schedule of what our school day looks like. It was great to see everyone’s smiling faces on Monday. This week we celebrated earning 84 SOAR tokens by having PJ and stuffed animal day today. We also squeezed in some extra free time on the computer. Many students chose to spend that time creating keynote slide shows….something we learned during superswitch time. We wrapped up our Christmas Around the World unit by sharing our keynote slideshows with everyone. So impressed by what they put together! I think that we should be able to email the slideshow to your home email and we will work on doing that next week. They are quite impressive. Emma was our Friday friend this week. We learned that she loves spaghetti, dogs, the colors pink, purple, blue, and teal, the TV show Tom and Jerry, and visiting Disney World. We enjoyed getting to know Emma better this week.

Wow!  We made it to the beginning of Christmas break and the end of 2019. Can’t believe how fast the school year is going. I hope that you all can take some time this break and enjoy your family and do the things that you normally don’t have time for…good friends, a good book, a good movie, or whatever makes you happy! Thank you all for the wonderful gifts and kind words. I am blessed to be working at Alward with such a great staff and even more wonderful parents!

Some things to keep in mind when school begins…..remember library books for library on Monday and the December reading calendar. January’s reading calendar was sent home yesterday. Our special on the day we get back will be art.

Today we celebrated Addison VanderLugt’s half birthday. Her birthday is June 20 when we are not in school, so we helped her celebrate today, when she is now 8 1/2! She treated us to some really cool light up squishy rings that we used during our computer time in the dark! We hope you have a fabulous birthday in June!

Arianna was our Friday friend this week. We learned she likes sushi, the color aqua, the book Secret Zoo, visiting Washington, DC, and dolphins. We loved getting to know Arianna better this week.

Amir was our Friday friend this week. We learned that he likes nachos, the color blue, going to Dave and Busters, the book Upside Down Magic, leopards and meerkats,  and playing with electronics. We enjoyed getting to know Amir better this week.
